Dundee Visit--January 2010

This was my first visit to Dundee.

I came up here with two goals in mind:
1) Learn more about Dundee and the social demographic of the city.
2) Secure interest in venues for the project.

I walked away with an amazing experience of Dundee. In four days I managed to meet the friendliest people. Find interest in the project that I am planning for the Nine Trades project and visit almost every bar, pub, and club in Dundee.
Here are some places that I came across in my travels:

Deacon Brodies

15 Ward Road, Dundee, Angus, DD1 1ND, United Kingdom - 01382 204 137

Deacon Brodies is a great lunch place on Ward road. They are located in a refurbished church complex which also happens to be a listed building. The staff told me that there is a crypt underneath the building and that a medium and ghost hunters have come to the building before.

The Art Bar
140 Perth Road Dundee, DD1 4JW, United Kingdom - 01382 227 888
The Art Bar is a trendy little bar just outside the Duncan and Jordanstone College of Art on Perth Road. It holds and organizes exhibits as well as serving refreshments to the students of the art college. It seems like a unique and lively environment that can cater to a wide variety of events.
The Kokomo

21-23 Old Hawkhill, Dundee, Angus, DD1 5EU, United Kingdom - 01382 225 639

The Kokomo is a stylish quaint bar on Old Hawkhill Road it has a mainly student clientele. The venue serves up a casual cosy atmosphere with games at hand to entertain patrons as well as good choice in cocktails.
Fat Sams

31 South Ward Rd, Town Center, 228181

Fat Sams is the iconic Dundee night club. This venue is gigantic and serves to a mix of clientele. The night that myself and Laura Simpson (Nine Trades of Dundee Curator) decided to go to Fat Sams it was student night where a double decker bus load of students were shipped in from St Andrews. Needless to say it was a lively and awesome night of top 40's and wild dancing!

Here are some videos of the night!
